Come November

Who is going to be our next President?  I’m sure the race for President will be just as controversial and interesting as the primary races.  As a veteran I of course respect John McCain’s military sacrifice very deeply, but have not really agreed with his political views. Still when I weigh all the talk, associations, promises and views regarding what one will do, John McCain’s perception of what can be accomplished seems much more attainable.

A total change would be great, if that change was good for the country. I do not like to see people go hungry, or have so many not able to afford health insurance for their family. This certainly is not the picture our grandparents and parents in-visioned. I also believe they never perceived government would be the cause or solution either.

The key word is “change” and I realize Senator Obama uses that word an awfully lot. More than the other candidates. I welcome a change, BUT this change has to be a wise change. Not just a phrase tossed around to offer us a false hope.

When candidates stretch or conviently forget facts, this becomes a very important issue. When one cannot take the time to research who freed which concentration camps, realize they had no uncles on their mothers side because she was an only child, was threatened by “sniper” fire, or that their daughter was really not running around the world trade center on Sept 11th, 2001 it becomes an issue. These are very important issues of integrity when you seek the most powerful office in the world. One never forgets or mistakes what sniper fire sounds like or how it feels to be in situation.

Most of us cannot remember who in our family did what exactly when, and we do get uncles mixed up with great uncles. But we are not seeking the most powerful position in the world. This is exactly what they are doing. I hope they are not seeking this position to better themselves, save a race, improve their status or just seek power. They are elected by us, the people, to represent us. Serve, protect and enforce the laws of this land.

Now which candidate has been the most honest?  Which of the candidates offers the best for this country that represents the majority?  Which of the candidates will best represent us the people and enforce the laws of the land.  It takes a very, very special person to a real politician. Our founding fathers were such, a rare breed.

The individual we elect will not change the course. Only we can do that. Maybe we should vote all in, out. Maybe then …
